About the Project

REBUILD INDIA FUND – PARTNERSHIP, SUPPORT & IMPACT

Our Partnership

Chhattisgarh Mitwa Sankalp Samitee has been associated with the Rebuild India Fund since 2025. This partnership has strengthened Mitwa’s grassroots work for the rights, dignity, equality, inclusion, and socio-economic empowerment of the transgender community in Chhattisgarh.

Flexible & Trust-Based Support

Rebuild India Fund provides flexible and trust-based support, giving Mitwa the freedom to identify priorities and respond to the changing needs of the transgender community. The support is not restricted to a single programme and enables Mitwa to work across education, healthcare, livelihoods, sports, community welfare, institutional strengthening, advocacy, and digital visibility, based on community needs. This flexibility has enabled Mitwa to implement community-focused initiatives while also strengthening its long-term organisational capacity.

Key Areas of Support & Outcomes

1. Education & Scholarships: Support enabled scholarships for 25 transgender students, helping reduce financial barriers and continue their education with greater stability and confidence.
2. Higher Education: Six transgender students were supported in securing college admissions. All six enrolled in B.A. programmes and successfully completed their first semester.
3. Sports & National Visibility: Rebuild India supported the Two-Day National Transgender Sports Meet in Raipur, organised by Chhattisgarh Mitwa Sankalp Samitee, providing transgender athletes opportunities to participate, build confidence and teamwork, and gain greater national visibility.
4. Garima Greh – Infrastructure & Well-being: Support enabled the installation of four air conditioners at Garima Greh, improving comfort, dignity, and the overall living environment for transgender residents.
5. Educational Exposure & Life Skills: 25 transgender students participated in educational exposure visits to Delhi and Manali, gaining confidence, life skills, cultural exposure, and greater awareness of educational, career, and livelihood opportunities.
6. Advocacy & Policy Engagement: Flexible support has enabled Mitwa to continue advocacy and engagement with government departments on healthcare, employment, social protection, community shelter, welfare schemes, and inclusive policies, strengthening the community’s representation in policy-level dialogue.
7. Institutional Strengthening & Networking: The partnership has strengthened Mitwa’s institutional capacity, government engagement, networking, community outreach, and ability to respond effectively to emerging community needs.
8. Website Development & Digital Visibility: With the support of Rebuild India, Chhattisgarh Mitwa Sankalp Samitee is currently developing its official website. The website will showcase the organisation’s profile, programmes, activities, achievements, impact stories, community initiatives, and advocacy work, while strengthening digital identity, institutional visibility, transparency, stakeholder communication, future partnerships, and community outreach.

Overall Impact

The partnership between Rebuild India Fund and Chhattisgarh Mitwa Sankalp Samitee has gone beyond supporting individual activities. Its flexible and trust-based approach has enabled Mitwa to respond to community needs while strengthening its organisational systems and long-term capacity. Through this partnership, Mitwa has advanced work across education, healthcare, livelihoods, sports, community welfare, infrastructure, advocacy, institutional strengthening, and digital visibility. Overall, the partnership has contributed to greater confidence, participation, visibility, dignity, access to opportunities, and socio-economic inclusion of transgender persons in Chhattisgarh, while strengthening Mitwa as a community-led organisation working towards sustainable and lasting social change.
